LA bishop apologizes to Hindus for conversions in past « Hindu focus

The ultra liberal Episcopal Bishop of Los Angeles J. Jon Bruno offered a formal apology to Hindus for centuries-old acts of religious discrimination including attempts by Christians to convert them.
He then authorized a joint Hindu-Anglican service at St John’s Cathedral in Los Angeles permitting Hindu devotees to receive the consecrated elements.
According to a statement read on his behalf by suffragan Bishop Chester Talton, he vowed not to proselytize non-Christians. “I believe that the world cannot afford for us to repeat the errors of our past, in which we sought to dominate rather than to serve, in this spirit, and in order to take another step in building trust between our two great religious traditions, I offer a sincere apology to the Hindu religious community,” said the bishop’s statement reported by the Los Angeles Times.
- The bishop also said he was committed to renouncing “proselytizing” of Hindus.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik will be visiting Kandhamal district on Thursday at a time when the police seems to have found linkage between the arms recovered from the Nandagiri rehabilitation centre in Orissa’s Kandhamal district and the arms looted from the Nayagarh police armoury by the Maoists last year.
The police on Monday had raided the centre following the death of an inmate during illegal manufacturing of crude bombs there. Interrogation of two injured persons by the police led to recovery of arms which were kept buried inside the camp, police sources said. The firearms include one SLR and three AK-47 rifles. The arms were looted from the Nayagarh police armoury during the ghastly Maoists’ raid on it in February 2008. At least a dozen of police personnel were killed in the incident.

Miraj on the path led by Narendra Modi - Sughosh | hindujagruti.org
- Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat will be visiting Sangli on Wednesday. He is coming for canvassing for the BJP candidates contesting in the forthcoming elections to be held in the next week. He will get to see a new and changed Maharashtra during his tour.
He will be happy. He is the one who started a new era in Indian politics. He brought new winds. Earlier, there was influence of Gandhi’s philosophy on the Indian politics. In Gandhi philosophy, however, the main thrust is on the welfare of Muslims. ‘Hindus should sacrifice to protect the interest of Muslim’, is the base of his thought process. He, however, does not agree with the condition that Muslims should also sacrifice to protect Hindu interests. He believed that love and unity cannot be achieved by stipulating conditions. ‘Muslims should riot, Hindus should die, their women may be molested but Hindus should not retaliate because retaliation adversely affects unity, is the thinking of Gandhi.
This practice of Gandhism was changed by Narendra Modi. Hindus have something to say in cases of riots, there are many things with Hindus which can be told to Muslims. If they listen to what Hindus have to say, their yearning for riots will slowly disappear. This is what Modi said and he also showed experiments based on his principles. After the Godhra case, he started talking to Muslims in their language which bore fruits. They started feeling that rather than fighting with Hindus, they can live with Hindus in harmony.
- Hindus now know that although Muslims are temporarily calm, they can revert back to showing their true colour with the help and assistance of the Government. Hence, on 13th October 2009, the Hindus have decided to vote in such manner so that the evil forces do not get any kind of encouragement.

Shivaraya has set an example of valor before Hindus by slaying Afzal Khan: Ramesh Shinde - Programs | hindujagruti.org

- Shiroda (Maharashtra):
- When Hindus will learn about their true history of the valour shown by their leaders in the past, the radiance of self-respect will be generated in them. Chhatrapati Shivaraya has set an example before Hindus by slaying the burly Afzal Khan. The followers of other religions have objection to the display of picture showing slaying of Afzal Khan as this will create confidence in Hindus that even if the enemy is strong, he can be killed. If they are not accepting this history today, they may take objection to even a picture of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in future. This effort to obliterate the history of our brave kings should be foiled by Hindus. The above views were expressed by Mr. Ramesh Shinde, the spokesperson of HJS for the State of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
- Rani Padmini, the queen of Chittod preferred to end her life along with her 8000 female attendants to keep away from Alluddin Khilji. Hindu young women have, however, forgotten the history and they are falling prey to ‘fatwas’ like ‘Love Jihad’ spoiling their life.
