Drug developed by RSS body gets US patent

  • tags: no_tag

    • Nagpur, Jun 17 (PTI) An anti-cancer drug extracted from cow urine and developed by an affiliate of the RSS has got a US patent for the third time for its anti-genotoxicity properties, a senior official has said.

The drug developed by RSS-backed Go Vigyan Anusandhan Kendra had earlier got the US patent as a bio-enhancer with antibiotics and anti-cancer drugs.

The research for the drug brand named 'Kamdhenu Ark' was carried out jointly by the Anusandhan Kendra and National Environmental Engineer Research Institute (NEERI), Acting Director of NEERI Tapan Chakraborty said.

The research found that Re-distilled Cow Urine Distillate (RCUD) was useful for protecting and repairing DNA from oxidative damage, Chakraborty and Sunil Mansinghka of Kendra told reporters yesterday.

Oxidative DNA damage is a leading cause of ageing, cancer and other diseases.

ITBP discovers ancient route to Kailash Mansarovar

  • tags: no_tag

    • The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has discovered a lost trekking stretch connected to the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage route and documented all related information in a book released Thursday.

The stretch, from Gala to Kathgodam, was discovered after a team of the ITBP's 7th battalion embarked on a project to trace those routes that once 'formed a part of the ancient route of the fabled Kailash-Mansarovar yatra', Commandant A.P.S. Nimbadia said.

Nimbadia, the chief of the battalion based at Mirthi in Uttarakhand's border district of Pithoragarh, was leading the team that conducted six expeditions to trace the route.

    • Nimbadia said the rediscovered route can serve as an alternative stretch to the pilgrimage to Mount Kailash, considered to be the abode of Hindu Lord Shiva. The mountain lies near the Mansarovar lake in Tibet.
    • Nimbadia said he hit upon the idea of exploring long-lost routes because pilgrims have to suffer a lot due to rains and landslides on the route that they take now.
    • 'I thought they could have been immediately rescued if we had even a slight idea about those long lost trekking routes forming a part of the ancient Kailash Mansarovar yatra route. In case of any calamity, we don't have alternative routes to provide relief to and rescue pilgrims. This route, if revived can be used in case of an emergency,' he said.
    • 'It is even said that Dogra warrior Zorawar Singh and his army followed the same route before they attacked Tibet and conquered it.'
    • ITBP Director General R.K. Bhatia released the book and praised the 'inspiring achievements' of Nimbadia.

Haindava Keralam - 'Indian Army is being deliberately weakened'

  • tags: no_tag

    • By Jaibans Singh
    • Interestingly, the divisive ideologies of Islamic Jihad and Maoism that the country has to contend with are direct imports from its two neighbours, China and Pakistan.

The two countries are well aware that only the Indian Army stands between them and their long standing policy of dividing India into small segments in order to curtail its growing influence.
Now, by involving the Army more and more in internal security, these countries feel that they may have hit bulls eye.

The engagement with the Naxals is not possible without diluting vigil on the border as also the edge that the Army enjoys as a conventional force. Quite obviously, the vacuum thus created will be exploited by these two countries, Pakistan will be able to boost its proxy war and China will gain strength in its negotiations for the border dispute.

The second challenge is emanating from a psychological war that has been launched against the force with the intention of denting the high moral pedestal at which it stands. The people of India see the Indian soldier as the epitome of all that is the best in the country due to his demonstrated qualities of courage, self sacrifice, integrity, strength of character and commitment to the cause of the nation.

If this image is dented, the psychological fallout may propel the country into a self destruct mode.

Against this backdrop, a sustained campaign is being orchestrated to malign the image of the soldier in the eyes of his countrymen.

Terrorists and terrorist linked organisations are keeping the pot boiling in regions like Kashmir and the North East by highlighting baseless human rights violations through the medium of orchestrated public demonstrations and virulent outcry.

In the remaining parts of the country, especially the national capital, the slightest misdemeanour by an Army man is blown out of proportion through well managed propaganda. The result is that the force and the country are getting enveloped in a feeling of low self esteem and the army is getting involved in a web of legality which is keeping it perpetually on the back foot.
    • The Army is the last bastion of the nation, and a weakened, demoralized force will spell doom for it.

Isolating the Army from deliberate attempts to reduce its capabilities and from negative propagandist influences is a national responsibility.

Haindava Keralam - Mullaperiyar Dam and Sabarimala: The religious roots of the Controversy

    • Mullaperiyar Dam Controversy in the Media

It is interesting to note that in the news media, Mullaperiyar issues get highlighted only during certain months of the year. This trend looks more or less the same for the last one decade (2000-2009).
    • The significance of this trend will look surprisingly familiar to a Malayali or a person from South India.  It is obvious that news items about the dam controversy appear only in the months that are significant for the Sabarimala pilgrimage of the Hindus. Is this a mere conincidence? Let’s see.
    • The Sabarimala pilgrimage is one of the most ancient pilgrimages of India. The presiding deity of Sabarimala, Lord Ayyappan, is one of the most popular deities in South India. The temple is open for worship only during the days of Mandalapooja (around November 15 to December 26), Makaravilakku (January 15), Vishu (April 14), and the first five days of each Malayalam month.

Sabarimala pilgrimage finds mention in many historical records of foreign travellers as well as colonial administrators (though this fact is studiously avoided by both Western and Indian scholars).

visfot.com ।

  • tags: no_tag

    image
