    • The Rajput kings who played a great role in the medieval history of India were great warriors who preferred death to a defeat at the hands of foreign invaders. Votaries of Hindu culture, Rajput kings suffered from the serious defect of jealousy. Instead of uniting against the barbarous invaders for the sake of their country, they fought amongst themselves and became easy targets to the invaders in spite of their superior army. Had they learnt lessons from history, the medieval period would have been called Rajput period. But it did not happen because of their shortsightedness and lack of political acumen.
