Panaji, June 23: A facsimile from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) allotting senior positions in the party's state hierarchy allegedly on the basis of caste and religion has sparked a controversy in the state Congress unit.
Newly appointed Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) secretaries Pravin Kunkolienkar and Gurudas Natekar have been categorised as 'Hindu Saraswat' and 'Hindu Maratha', respectively. The new vice presidents Kanta Gawde and Vithoba Desai have respectively been slotted under 'Hindu ST (Scheduled Tribes)' and 'Hindu minority' categories.
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir governor NN Vohra has appointed three Muslims to the 13-member Shri Amarnath Yatra Advisory Committee for a smooth conduction of the yatra. But the committee is yet to meet, as the Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti (SASS) has objected to inclusion of Muslims in the committee.
"The SASB Act clearly states that if a governor is non-Hindu, he has to nominate a Hindu to head the board. Taking it as a premise, how can a non-Hindu be part of Hindu religious body? Similarly no non-Muslim should be part of Muslim body," said samiti convener Brig (retd) Suchet Singh.
Crowds of up to 1,500 are expected each day of the three-day festival at the Minnesota Hindu Temple, which serves as a cultural and spiritual hub for about 30,000 Hindus in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota and the southern part of Manitoba.
After years of dealing with everything from an attack by vandals to construction dust fouling up his computer, temple manager Narender Venkata is going to concentrate on enjoying himself this weekend.
"This is for everyone, not just Hindus," Venkata said.
He says, “The aim of Maoist supporters is simple. Demoralise the state machinery to such an extent that its will to fight the Maoists is completely shattered and the road to Maoist expansion is facilitated.”
The Maoists have succeeded in establishing a multi-layered network through their open and clandestine channels to deflect attention from their real motives. There are Gandhians, civil liberty operators, media personalities, writers and artists who are linked to the Maoist network and they try to camouflage the sinister designs of the Maoists.
Its extortion budget, according to these sources, is in the range of Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 crore.
One only has to scan the pages of the Maoist Bible, Strategy and Tactics of the Indian Revolution, published by the Central Committee of the CPI (Maoist), to realise how deep and dangerous their ideas are. It states, “The central task of the revolution is seizure of political power through protracted people’s war.”
“To accomplish this central task, the Indian people will have to be organised in people’s army, and will have to wipe out the armed forces of the counter revolutionary Indian state through war and will have to establish in its place their own state.”

Even when Mrs Jogmaya Devi, mother of Dr. Mookherjee blamed the government of Nehru and Sheikh Abdullah and appealed for an enquiry commission to investigate the reason of her son’s death, Nehru turned a deaf ear to her.

A section of media playing double standard, alleges Puri Seer By Golakha Chandra Das
Bhubaneswar (Visakeo)- Sankaracharya of Puri Gobardan Pitha, Jagadaguru Swami Nischalanand Saraswati has alleged that a section of media, particularly the electronic media is playing double standards on various sensitive issues.
While addressing the media here on June 15, the Puri Seer argued that the whole electronic media kept their concentration on nun rape case in Kandhamal but not a single TV channel showed the brutal muder of Hindu seer Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and the side effects of conversion.
Oppose the visit of United States Commission for International Religious Freedom to India - Ashok Singhal
Press statement issued by Shri Ashok Singhal, International President, Vishwa Hindu Parishad
This commission has prepared a list of 13 countries wherein they feel the Christian missionaries have not been allowed to freely proselytise the local non-Christians disrupting the social fabric in those countries.
This list does not include any country wherein atrocities are perpetrated on the Hindus or the Buddhists like Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Afghanistan, etc.
If anyone glances over the pages of the constitutions of the western countries, he will be able to realise that there are many restrictions on the religious freedom of the non-Christians in those countries.
There is a tendency to regard Hindu-based religious movements such as ISKCON, Transcendental Meditation groups, Rajnish groups etc, as cults.
Many Hindu-based and yoga movements in US and other western countries have been sued as cults.
To put it in perspective, one would say that it is over ten times harder in America to build a temple where Hindus live in large numbers than it is to build a church.
The textbooks in the western schools and the western media routinely portray Hinduism as cults, idolatry or even as eroticism.
Booklets and pamphlets denigrating Hindu religion and distorting the Hindu religious literature and epics are frequently distributed hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus in many parts of our country.
In the light of the above facts we demand the setting-up of a commission by Government of India at the national level to probe into the nefarious activities carried on by the outfits backed by the Church in several parts of our country. The commission should also inquire into the flow of foreign funds to such organisations and how the funds are misused for conversions and promoting communal hatred among the different Hindu communities.
