  • एक ऐतिहासिक फैसले के तहत भारतीय मूल के सामाजिक और धार्मिक नेता देवेन्दर घई ने हिन्दू परंपराओं के तहत खुले में अंतिम संस्कार का अधिकार हासिल कर लिया है।
        
    घई (71) इस मुद्दे को लेकर कई वर्षों से अभियान चला रहे थे और 2006 के न्यूकैसल सिटी कौंसिल के फैसले के खिलाफ अदालत की शरण में गये थे। उन्होंने हिन्दू परंपराओं के अनुसार खुले में अंत्येष्टि की छूट देने की मांग की थी। कौंसिल ने कहा था कि मानव अवशेष को शवदाह गह के अलावा कहीं भी जलाना 1902 के अंतिम संस्कार अधिनियम के तहत प्रतिबंधित है।
        
    2009 में घई की चुनौती को हाईकोर्ट ने खारिज कर दिया था लेकिन कोर्ट आफ अपील ने बुधवार को इस व्यवस्था को बदल दिया। घई न्यूकैसल से संचालित एंग्लो एशियन फ्रेंडशिप सोसायटी के संस्थापक हैं। कोर्ट आफ अपील ने व्यवस्था दी कि अंत्येष्टि कानूनी होना चाहिए जिसके बाद घई ने कहा कि इसमें दीवारें और छत हो सकती हैं जो खुली हों।

  • ब्रिटेन में रहने वाला एक हिंदू मतावलंबी मौत के बाद अपनी आत्मा की मुक्ति के लिए खुली हवा में चिता पर जलाए जाने की मंजूरी हासिल करने में सफल रहा है। हालांकि 71 वर्षीय देवेंद्र घई को इसके लिए लंबी कानूनी लड़ाई लड़नी पड़ी है। लेकिन घई के मन में इसे लेकर कोई मलाल नहीं है। वह तो इस बात से खुश हैं कि अब उनकी आत्मा को धार्मिक विधानों के अनुरूप मुक्ति मिलने का रास्ता साफ हो गया है। दरअसल ब्रिटेन की अपीलीय अदालत ने आज घई को मौत के बाद चिता पर जलाए जाने की अनुमति दे दी।

  • सरकारी आदेश होने के बावजूद मंदिरों को मिल रही महंगी बिजली के मामले में विद्युत निगम के अधिशाषी अभियंता वी.पी.सिंह ने मंगलवार को अधीनस्थ अफसरों से जवाब-तलब किया है। उन्होंने बताया कि जिन मंदिरों की ओर से लिखित में शिकायत आई थी उनकी श्रेणी परिवर्तित कर दी गई थी। साथ ही जिन मंदिरों की श्रेणी शिकायत मिलने के बावजूद एक वर्ष से भी अधिक समय तक नहीं बदलने को निगम की गलती स्वीकारी। अब सभी मंदिरों को आगामी बिल सरकारी नियमानुसार भिजवाए जाएंगें।

  • अखिल भारतीय अखाडा परिषद के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष महंत ज्ञानदासके वैरागी कैंप स्थित आश्रम में सुबह विहिप के अंतरराष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष अशोक सिंघल पहुंचे। श्री सिंघल के साथ कुछ और नेता भी थे। महंत ज्ञानदाससे श्री सिंघल की बातचीत हुई। दोनों के बीच हिंदुत्व के मुद्दे को लेकर गंभीरता से चर्चा हुई। समझा जाता है कि महाकुंभमें संतों का संगम होगा, इसलिए जल्द ही कोई बडा आयोजन करने के कार्यक्रम की बात भी हुई। कार्यक्रम कब होगा, अभी यह तय नहीं हुआ। परिषद के अध्यक्ष महंत ज्ञानदासने बताया कि गो और गंगा के अलावा हिन्दुत्व बडा मुद्दा है। महाकुंभमें इसे लेकर वृहद कार्ययोजना बनाई जा रही है।

    देशभर के संतों को इसमें शामिल किया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि गंगा और गो का संरक्षण करना तो संतों का ध्येय बन चुका है। महाकुंभमें हिंदुत्व के मुद्दे को पूरी धार दी जाएगी।

  • वेलेंटाइन डे यानी 14 फरवरी को अपने वैलेंटाइन को फूल भेजना, कार्ड और गिफ्ट देना छोड़िए और संग ले जाइए उन्हें चेन्नई से 90 किलोमीटर दूर उस मंदिर में जो केवल प्रेम के पुजारियों के लिए ही बनाया जा रहा है ।

    शाश्वत प्रेम की अराधना के लिए यहां भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की प्रतिमा है। यह मंदिर चेन्नई स्थित गोकुललक्ष्मी ट्रस्ट के आर जगन्नाथ के दिमाग की उपज है, जोकि वेल्लोर जिले के शोलिंगर में बन रहा है और अगले दो महीने में बनकर तैयार हो जाएगा।

    जगन्नाथ कहते हैं कि ऐसा माना जाता है कि भगवान कृष्ण की 16,000 पटरानी थी और उनके लिए हर रोज वैलेंटाइन डे था। मेरी तमन्ना इबादत को इश्क से जोड़ने की है। यह कृष्ण का अपने भक्तों के लिए और भक्तों का उनके लिए प्यार का प्रतीक जैसा है।

    उन्होंने कहा कि भगवान कृष्ण अपनी प्रेमिका राधा के साथ अब अपने नए अवतार में प्यार के देवता हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि हिन्दू धर्म में कृष्ण प्यार के पयार्यवाची हैं और उन्हें हर उम्र की महिला पूजती है। मंदिर में कृष्ण ओर राधा की संगमरमर की प्रतिमा लगाई जा रही है, साथ में गायें और बछड़े भी होंगे। दक्षिण भारत की परंपरा के उलट यहां भक्तों को अपने भगवान को छूने की इजाजत होगी। जगन्नाथ पूछते हैं, स्पर्श के बिना प्यार क्या है।

  • भगवान कृष्ण अपनी प्रेमिका राधा के साथ अब अपने नए अवतार में प्यार के देवता हैं।

  • अक्टूबर के बाद से राज्य में भले ही कांग्रेस सत्ता में आ गयी हो लेकिन चर्चा में शिवसेना लौट आयी. इसके सीधे तौर पर दो परिणाम हुए. कांग्रेस का भ्रम टूटा कि शिवसेना बीते दिनों की बात है और राज ठाकरे नामक भस्मासुर को भस्म करना है. यह पुनीत पावन काम भी बाल ठाकरे ने ही करना शुरू कर दिया. पिछले एक महीने में मुंबई खबरों में बनी हुई है. लेकिन आश्चर्य देखिए न तो कोई राज ठाकरे का नाम ले रहा है और न ही उनकी पार्टी महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण सेना का. बाल ठाकरे ने अपनी राजनीतिक चालों से कांग्रेस और राज ठाकरे दोनों को ढेर कर दिया और हार के बावजूद शिवसेना को दोबारा चर्चा में स्थापित कर दिया. अब महाराष्ट्र की राजनीति एक बार फिर कांग्रेस बनाम शिवसेना की हो गयी है जिसके बीच से मनसे, भाजपा और राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस तीनों ही गायब हो गये हैं.
  • बाल ठाकरे के इस दम-खम वाली राजनीति को सामान्य बोलचाल की भाषा में गुण्डागर्दी की राजनीति में कहा जाने लगा लेकिन संभवत: बाल ठाकरे जानते थे कि वे राजनीति में किसे और क्यों संबोधित कर रहे हैं? शिवसेना ने जिस मराठी मानुष की भावना को अपनी राजनीति का आधार बनाया वह तत्व हर मराठी व्यक्ति में बहुत गहराई से निहित है. खुद राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ अपनी आंतरिक व्यवस्था में मराठी श्रेष्ठताबोध से मुक्त नहीं है. इसलिए महाराष्ट्र में गैर मराठी का मुद्दा चल निकलना कहीं से अस्वाभाविक नहीं था.
  • साठ साल के अपने सार्वजनिक जीवन में बाल ठाकरे महाराष्ट्र से बाहर कभी कहीं नहीं गये. महाराष्ट्र में भाजपा के साथ मिलकर सत्ता प्राप्ति के बाद तो उन्होंने महाराष्ट्र में भी जाना छोड़ दिया और बांद्रा स्थित घर और नई मुंबई के फार्म हाउस के बीच सिमटकर रह गये. 1996 में पत्नी मीनाताई ठाकरे की मौत के बाद तो उन्होंने फार्महाउस जाना भी छोड़ दिया क्योंकि उनकी मौत फार्महाउस से लौटते हुए रास्ते में हृदयगति रुक जाने से हुई थी. बाल ठाकरे राजनीतिक रूप से भले ही कितनों को दुख पहुंचाते हों लेकिन खुद उनके निजी जीवन में सुखद क्षण कम ही रहा है.
  • भारतीय राजनीति में संभवत: क्षत्रप शब्द सटीकता से बाल ठाकरे से ही शुरू होता है और उन्हीं पर खत्म हो जाता है. ऐसे क्षेत्रीय राजनीतिक क्षत्रप ने एक बार फिर साबित कर दिया कि आप बाल ठाकरे पसंद या नापसंद कर सकते हैं लेकिन उन्हें दरकिनार नहीं कर सकते.

  • Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is considering increasing the number of General Secretaries from seven to nine to cover weaker sections including women better. The move, according to them, would also cover the country better geographically.

     

    Currently the Party president is entitled to appoint seven Genaral Secretaries and Nine Vice-Presidents. There is, however, no restriction on the number of secretaries.
  • According to sources, his team of officials will be a healthy composition of young minds and experienced people. Certain names seem quite certain, Ram Lal as the general secretary in-charge of organisation, Anant Kumar as the senior-most general secretary and Thawar Chand Gehlot as a general secretary.
  • Ex- Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, ex- Goa CM Manohar Parrikar, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Dharmendra Pradhan are likely new comers as general secretaries. Ex Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain and Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu are also likely to find place in his team.

     

    Anurag Singh Thakur, Hamirpur MP, may lead BJP’s ‘Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’ despite facing tough competition from MP Varun Gandhi.

  • Delhi Lt Governor Tejender Khanna today assured a Vishwa Hindu Parishad delegation that beef will not be served during the Commonwealth Games to be held in October here.

    The VHP delegation, comprising Vice-president Omprakash Singhal, state general secretary Satendra Mohan and state organising secretary Karuna Prakash, submitted a memorandum for eliminating beef from the Commonwealth Games menu.

  

  • The memorandum was also submitted against the increasing cases of cow slaughter in the capital which the LG took a serious note of and issued instructions to the departments concerned and Delhi police to take stern steps to curb cow slaughter in the capital.

    He assured the delegation that strict action will be taken in the cases already registered for the cause and the cases registered against the 'gau bhakts' may be withdrawn.

  • The problem for Shahrukh Khan's Pakistan position, which slipped out of his tongue, is that at the end of the day, even as he vouches for an enemy state Pakistan which won't relinquish occupied Kashmir and whose terrorist groups are looking to kill Indian police and armymen whenever possible; to get his film My Name is Khan released now, he has to call for help and has to take security cover of those very same Indian police and perhaps armymen, whose sacrifice and service he was trying to undermine by vouching for Pakistan despite 26/11.
    
    Oops.
    
    This is called irony. Not a good position to be in if you're Khan. His apologists have tried to link him to Rahul Gandhi, but unfortunately Rahul Gandhi and Shahrukh Khan are two different situations altogether. Rahul Gandhi was vouching for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar last week and generally India for Indians, a position that's generally not too unpopular, even in Maharashtra. Though his sincerity can be questioned as it was his party that allowed MNS, which unlike Shiv Sena was committing treason
  • Whereas Rahul Gandhi's position on Pakistan, is a lot closer to Varun Gandhi than it is to Shahrukh Khan. Had Rahul Gandhi pulled a SRK on Pakistan, his visit to Mumbai too would not have gone safely for him. The sainiks didn't go after Rahul Gandhi not because they were afraid but simply because the guy's position on Pakistan was the same as theirs more or less. That's the bottom line.
    
    But the Shahrukh Khan situation is different.
  • Shahrukh Khan, constantly on the other hand, tries to equate India to Pakistan in context of situations like My Name is Khan, thereby a) often dragging all the khans by implication with him whether they agree or not b) begging the fundamental question if Hindustan and Pakistan were the same, why seek refuge in Hindustan after 1947? Why not try his filmi luck in Lahore or Rawalpindi instead of coming to Bandra?
    
    So the Indian police and security forces, no matter of which state, even if they have to protect Khan will do so half-heartedly at best.
    
    Because you don't give signals, however implicit, that you support Pakistan while living in India. A foolish move by Khan, an otherwise clever and shrewd man if not always sincere man. But a move he will regret moving forward regardless of MNIK, whether he acknowledges or not.

  • After Shiv Sena in Mahrarashtra, Bajrang Dal has entered the fray in the My Name is Khan situation by promising to stop the film in Orissa.
    
    Subash Chauhan, national co-convenor of the Bajrang Dal, said that they would not allow the screening of My Name is Khan in the state unless Shahrukh Khan apologises for his comments supportive of Pakistan. He added that the actor acted like an agent of Pakistan by raising his voice for the cause of its cricketers.
    
    Meanwhile Vishwa Hindu Parishad units in Indore are rounding up theater owners warning them of damage on their properties if they screen the 'pakistani' supporter's movie on their properties.

  • Angry mobs in any nation do not fall from the sky. They are made of common public. And when own hunger and family’s food-water-milk deprivation are the causes of that anger, nothing stops such mobs to go to any extent. From French Revolution to Somalia and Haiti—the world has witnessed it all.
    
    Price hike cartel in Bharat is pushing public in Bharat exactly towards such anger. Bharat has seen many famines and in some parts droughts. People of Bharat have tremendous patience. They wait longer than people in many other nations. But when their patience withers away, they get united and furious. We witnessed that in responding to Emergency. Then it was a mild revolution more resulting into political catharsis. But today’s anger of common public is not as simple as it may sound. During my travel I meet people and families from various communities and from varied social stratum.
  • We notice such signals in people’s behaviour. Road rage, sudden depressive behaviour among youth, family feuds resulting into on spur of a moment murder, teachers suddenly beating up children, looting in unusual places, juniors suddenly shooting at seniors—there are many such examples. Usually the common man never behaves like this. The common man in Bharat is generally quite ‘cool’. But no more.
  • The reasons are not natural like famine or drought. In Punjab there is an excess production of wheat and in UP there is an excess production of dal. But some say there are no labourers to lift that wheat and put in the trucks and therefore wheat is expensive; some say Korean dal looks good and it is selling cheap in the market. Therefore Indian dal has become expensive. Some say there is less production of dal therefore it is expensive. What about sugar? Some say sugar production was lower and so prices ‘will go up’. And lo and behold! Prices go up! The same great sugar baron in the background for two years had been saying sugar factories are going in losses because there had been excess production of sugar cane and that they had to give stipulated price to the farmers. That time sugar production was in excess! He even was doing marathon meetings with various people to see if loss-making sugar factories can be turned around! (To be concluded)

  • डिंडीगुल जिले के बाटलागुंडु थाना क्षेत्र में है गांव मेलाकोइलपट्टी। दलित नौजवान पी.सादियान्दी, उम्र 24 साल, इसी गांव का है। पोंगल की तैयारियां जोरों पर थीं। सादियान्दी भी घर की साफ-सफाई और चमकाने में जुटा था। 7 जनवरी को वो पुताई के लिए चूना खरीदने करीब के कस्बे जा रहा था कि रास्ते में सात थेवर नौजवानों ने उसे घेर लिया। उन्होंने सादियान्दी के साथ गालीगलौच की। उसकी पिटाई की। फिर दो लोगों ने जबरदस्ती उसका मुंह खोला और तीसरे ने एक छड़ी से उठाकर मानव मल उसके मुंह में डाल दिया। इतना ही नहीं, उसके मुंह पर भी मल पोत दिया गया। सादियान्दी ने किसी तरह पास के एक तालाब में कूदकर जान बचाई।
  • अपराध? सादियान्दी का अपराध सिर्फ ये था कि वो पांव में जूते पहनता है। जबकि दलितों की पिछली पीढ़ी ऐसा करने की हिम्मत नहीं जुटा पाती थी। जाहिर है, सादियान्दी गांव में पीढ़ियों से चले आ रहे एक कानून को तोड़ रहा था। थेवर नौजवानों को यही 'दुस्साहस' बरदाश्त नहीं हुआ।
  • ठहरिये..इस घृणित दास्तान को किसी पुराने चश्मे से न देखिए। कहानी में एक पेच है। जिन थेवर नौजवानों ने ऐसा किया, वो हिंदू नहीं हैं। वे धर्म बदलकर ईसाई हो चुके हैं। लेकिन उनका सवर्ण आतंकी दिमाग, प्रभु यीशू के दरबार में भी सक्रिय है। सादियान्दी के अपराध को देखकर वे करुणा, प्रेम, दया के सारे उपदेश भुला बैठे।
  • इस पूरे प्रकरण में एक सवाल बेहद परेशान करने वाला है। आखिर, थेवर नौजवानों में दंड देने का ऐसा विचार आया कहां से। दलितों पर अत्याचार की लोमहर्षक कहानियों से इतिहास भरा पड़ा है। लेकिन जो धर्म बदलने की हद तक चले गए, उनमें घृणा का ऐसा भाव! कहीं उन्हें ग्वांतानामो की जेलों से तो ये प्रेरणा नहीं मिली, जहां दंड के ऐसे ही तरीके ईजाद करके अमेरीकी झंडे की शान बढ़ाई जाती है।
  • वैसे अंग्रेजी मीडिया ने भी इसे मुद्दा बनाने में कोई रुचि नहीं दिखाई। पूछा जाना चाहिए कि क्या ये चंडीगढ़ की रुचिका के साथ हुए अन्याय से कम गंभीर मामला था? क्या सादियान्दी को न्याय नहीं मिलना चाहिए। फिर चुप्पी का मतलब क्या है?

  • वर्ण श्रेष्ठता का दंभ, आदमी को आदमी नहीं जानवर बना देता है।...माफ कीजिए, ऐसा कहना जानवरों का अपमान है। आपने कब देखा कि किसी जानवर ने दूसरे जानवर को अपना मल खाने पर मजबूर किया?

    संत रविदास कह गए हैं-

    
    जात-जात में जात है जस केलन कै पात

    
    रैदास न मानुख जुड़ सकै, जब तक जात न जात।
