    • The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has cancelled the 'shila pujan' programme scheduled to be held next month to mark the 20th year of Ram temple movement, a VHP spokesman said.

VHP top leadership decided that they were not going to hold any programme in Ayodhya related to the Ram temple movement for the next one year, VHP's local spokesman Sharad Sharma said.

The Hindu outfit had announced celebration on the twenty years of the movement by organising 'shila pujan' -- a three-day gathering of VHP activists in Ayodhya, on November 9, 10 and 11, 2009.

The decision to cancel the proposed programme was taken after a joint meeting of VHP chief Ashok Singhal and Mahant Gyan Das, the national convener of Dharam Rakcha Manch (religion defence forum), decided to organise this programme on the national level in Ayodhya a year later, Sharma said.
