    • Kerala Islamic Group KIG, hosted a reception in honour of retired DGP of Gujarat, R.B. Sree Kumar IPS, at Indian Central school auditorium, Abbasiya. KIG Public Relation wing convener Faisal Manjeri introduced Sree Kumar to the packed audience and said that Sree Kumar has been a vocal critic of fascism in India and has been famous for his efforts for the protection of the minority Muslims who became innocent victims of Gujarat riots. Sree Kumar was brave enough in his capacity as the DGP, to arrest Hindu leaders along with IPS officers, who were engaged in fake encounters, a vicious method adopted by the sangh parivar to kill as many Muslims as possible. Even though he got de-promoted and received threats, he continued discharging his duties to save the innocent victims of Gujarat riots. To some extent his brave approach was a break through which led to the arrest of Lt Colonel Purohit and Prajnha Sing Takur in connection with the Malegaon explosion.
