Tension near Mylai temple

    • CHENNAI: Tension prevailed in the areas close to Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Mylapore on Sunday as two groups were engaged in a slogan-raising clash over entry into the temple. Activists of one group gathered on a road near the shrine to enter the temple, touch the idol and do services themselves, while members of another opposed them.
    • Around 30 activists of the Confederation of Self Respecting Tamilians, led by church and Tamil activist M Deivanayagam, had gathered on Kutchery Road, with Tamil nationalist P Nedumaran. Also present were young activists, clad in black t-shirts with Periyar’s picture printed on them.
