- CHENNAI: Tension prevailed in the areas close to Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Mylapore on Sunday as two groups were engaged in a slogan-raising clash over entry into the temple. Activists of one group gathered on a road near the shrine to enter the temple, touch the idol and do services themselves, while members of another opposed them.
- Around 30 activists of the Confederation of Self Respecting Tamilians, led by church and Tamil activist M Deivanayagam, had gathered on Kutchery Road, with Tamil nationalist P Nedumaran. Also present were young activists, clad in black t-shirts with Periyar’s picture printed on them.

I have been a reader of IE for more than 40 years, but what you have done is another Christian apologia and propaganda in the worst ever manner. On 03-05-2010, you published very wrong, michevous and misleading report, under the caption, “Stir seeking right to worship”, with one line elaboration as “Film director Seeman addressing the protestors during a hunger strike at Kapaleswarar Temple at Mylapore in the city on Sunday” and “Members of the Federation of ALL Self-respecting Tamils observed a fast inside the Kapaleswarar temple..............”, inside the report.
Nevertheless, the fact being, there was no such protest or fast at or inside the temple. At least two dozens letters sent to you by e-mail and post pointing out such irresponsible report, but you kept silence.
Now again, you have come out with the coverage of the same, “Tension near Mylai temple” (14-06-2010), perhaps keeping distance, but showing the VHP cadre, as if they have been the rabble raisers, instead of the real trouble-mongers. As a Christian and Catholic stooge Deivanayagam says, “We know we cannot enter the temple. But we will still head towards it”, then, his background and the credentials have to be exposed by your intelligent and investigative reporters, instead of carrying out such negative reporting and Christian propaganda evidently against Hindus.
The CBCI and Church should be asked to respond as to what is their motive to indulge in this type of anti-Hindu activities, when their homes are infested, infected and inflicte with lot of diseases, evils and sins.
