  • The picture was discovered in a handwriting book for children in church-run schools in the Christian-majority northeastern state of Meghalaya where it was used to illustrate the letter "I" for the word "Idol."

    "It was a human error," Inder Mohan Jha, director of the New Delhi-based Skyline Publications, told the Indian Express newspaper, blaming it on a design agency tasked with the layout and contents of the book.

    "They seem to have lifted an offensive photo off the Internet," he added.

• • An Indian schoolchild points to a figure representing Jesus Christ smoking and drinking in a school textbook in Shillong. The publisher said the image was taken from the Internet and used by mistake.

  • He told the party-controlled TV channel Kairali that “I realised that me going for the RSS function was a mistake. It should not have taken place. I would not repeat the mistake”.  

     

    Padmalochan’s unconditional apology came a day before the Kollam district committee of the party would decide on whether the senior leader should be served with a disciplinary action. Soon after the incident, Kollam district secretary K Rajagopal had expressed the party’s displeasure over Padmalochan’s presence at the RSS function.

  • Under his leadership, the Kollam municipal corporation had allowed the Sangh Parivar to clean a public ground, where the RSS would hold their meeting.
  • However, RSS state joint secretary J Nandakumar said his organisation had invited the mayor as the head of the city. Several leaders from other political streams had attended the RSS functions in the past.

  • देश का एक अकेला संगठन ऐसा है जिसके सदस्यों की संख्या भारतीय सेना के सैनिकों की संख्या के आसपास पहुंचती है। पचास लाख बाकायदा पंजीकृत सदस्य है इसके। नाम है राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ।
  • बहुत सारे लोगों के लिए आरएसएस यानी संघ परिवार हिंदू सांप्रदायिकता का प्रतीक है। ये वे लोग हैं जिनके लिए मुस्लिम लीग मुस्लिम सांप्रदायिकता का प्रतीक नहीं है। संघ परिवार में या उसके नाम में कहीं हिंदू शब्द नहीं जुड़ा है लेकिन दुनिया के हर विलायती विश्व कोष और शब्द कोष में इसे एक अतिवादी हिंदू संगठन के तौर पर परिभाषित किया जाता है।
  • 1925 में उन्होंने कांग्रेस छोड़ी और कुछ मित्रों के साथ मिल कर राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ का गठन किया। इसके बावजूद डॉक्टर हेडगेवार कांग्रेस के शत्रु नहीं थे और कांग्रेस भी संघ को हिंदू सांप्रदायिकता का प्रतीक नहीं मानती थी। इसीलिए हेडगेवार और उनके स्वयं सेवकों ने कांग्रेस के नेतृत्व मेंं ही आजादी की लड़ाई में हिस्सा लेना जारी रखा।
    संघ के संविधान में ही हेडगेवार ने सबसे पहले लिख दिया था कि संगठन का संबंध किसी राजनैतिक दल से नहीं रहेगा। कांग्रेस उस समय राजनैतिक दल थी ही नहीं। वह तो आजादी का आंदोलन थी।
  • दरअसल भारत रत्न से सम्मानित गाधीवादी इतिहासकार डॉक्टर भगवान दास ने तो साफ शब्दों में कहा है कि संघ के स्वयं सेवक उत्साही और बलिदानी है

  • उत्तर-पूर्वी मुंबई के उल्हास नगर में सामाजिक उत्थान के नाम पर पिछले दो साल में 7,000 सिंधियों के धर्र्मातरण से बवाल मच गया है। इसी बस्ती के चार हजार अन्य लोगों ने भी हिंदू धर्म को छोड़कर ईसाई धर्म को अपनाया है।

    
    
    

    एक अनुमान के मुताबिक, उल्हास नगर में चार लाख सिंधी रहते हैं। इनमें से धर्म परिवर्तन करने वाले सिंधियों की 40 की उम्र के आसपास है। विभाजन के दौरान पाकिस्तान से विस्थापित सिंधियों की इस कॉलोनी में व्यापक पैमाने पर हुए इस धर्र्मातरण से बुजुर्ग बेहद नाराज हैं। सिंधियों को हिंदू धर्म का कट्टर समर्थक माना जाता रहा है।

  • आल इंडिया सिंधी समाज के महासचिव साईं बलराम ने कहा, ‘हम किसी धर्म विशेष के खिलाफ नहीं हैं, लेकिन यदि धर्र्मातरण करने वाले लोगों का झुकाव यदि ईसाइयत के प्रति अधिक है तो उन्हें अपने हिंदू नाम छोड़ देने चाहिए। हमने जुलाई में समाज के संतों का सम्मेलन बुलाया है, जिसमें ईसाई बने सिंधियों के बहिष्कार पर फैसला होगा।’

    
    
    

    क्या वजह है?: बलराम के अनुसार, ईसाई मिशनरियों ने छोटे सिंधी व्यापारियों को अपना कारोबार फैलाने में मदद की। इसके बाद सिंधियों का ईसाई धर्म के प्रति रुझान बढ़ा।
