- Ichalkaranji (Maharashtra):
- Muslims had started unauthorised construction of a mosque on the government land at Shirdhon (taluka Shirol). Devout Hindus, however, strongly opposed it and finally, it has been demolished by Muslims.
- This has helped to ease the tension in the village that existed for the last 15 days. A warning was given by devout Hindus that in case Muslims did not demolish the unauthorised structure on their own, Hindus would go on hunger strike for a day on 15th July and demolish the same. Many political parties and pro-Hindu organisations like BJP, Shiv Sena, VHP, ‘Tanta-mukti Samiti’, ‘Anyaya-nivaran Kruti Samiti’ etc. along with many devout Hindus participated in the agitation.
