VHP accuses Centre of bias against Hindus - Bhubaneswar - City - NEWS - The Times of India

    • VHP on Thursday criticized the state government for its alleged failure to arrest the killers of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and the conspirators involved in the dastardly act. The saffron outfit also accused the state and Central governments of giving compensation to only Christian victims of the Kandhamal carnage.

      VHP made the allegations in a memorandum, which they submitted to the Governor after holding a silent protest dharna outside the Raj Bhavan here.

      The dharna was organized on the occasion of first death anniversary the octogenarian seer who was shot dead along with four others by armed miscreants at his Jalespeta ashram in Kandhamal district on Janmasthami last year.
    • The saffron memorandum described "religious conversions" were causing "constant problems" in the state and said the Orissa Freedom of Religion Act (OFRA) should be strictly implemented.

    • The outlawed CPI (Maoists) has drawn up a blue print to eliminate several RSS, VHP and Bajarang Dal leaders in Orissa and the leftwing wing guerrillas could selectively target these leaders.
    • The missive of MHA assumes greater significance with posters and leaflets being distributed in riot hit Kandhamal district.
    • posters of suspected Maoists were sighted at several places like Raikia, Sankarkhol, G Udayagiri and other areas of Kandhamal district. These posters fumed against Hinduism and have asked people to embrace Christianity.

      It appealed to people through these posters to observe Janmasthami as ‘Bijaya Divas’.

      The Maoists through their posters asked the people to shut down business establishments. But it had no impact. Significantly, the Maoists posters have mentioned Hindu dharma Heena Dharma, Christa Dharma Mahaapunya.
