The leaders have not only refused to give up their claims to the site, but also urged the BJP to wait for the court’s verdict on the issue. “We willaccept the court’s verdict, even if we lose. Is the BJP prepared to say the same?” Asaduddin Owaisi, a Lok Sabha MP, asked.
Owaisi’s standhas also been echoed by the likes of Zafaryab Jilani and Syed Shabbuddin, two prominent members of the Babri Masjid Action Committee “There’s no question of giving up our claims on the issue. The matter is before the courts, we should wait for the verdict,” said Jilani.
Mehmood Madani, a Rajya Sabha MP and senior leader of the Jamat Ulema-e-Hind, has been at the forefront of the movement against terrorismamongst Muslims. He refused to be swayed by the BJP’s offer. “Firstof all, no Muslim can barter awaya mosque. Secondly it’s very difficult to trust the BJP and the RSS. After all, they broke their promise to the Supreme Court,” Madani said.
