    • Despite security assurances, the film My Name is Khan was not screened in Pune. However, more volatile Mumbai managed to pull a rabbit out its hat, with a wee bit of arm-twisting.

The state government has claimed that My Name is Khan was screened at 13 multiplexes and single screen theatres in Mumbai.

To achieve this, the Democratic Front government had to put in all its might, including a severe threat to the multiplex chains and theatres owners that the tax rebates they enjoy currently will be withdrawn if they did not release the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, said sources.
