  • Janata Pary President Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday said he would challenge in courts the Religious Endowment and Charitable Trust Act implemented in various states, saying governments had taken over temples' management.
    
    Only six per cent of the proceeds from temples were used for religious purposes and 94 per cent for other purposes, he told reporters here.
    
    He alleged in Tamil Nadu, the state government had taken over 36,584 temples and had sold temple land to real estate dealers.
