    • The 2009 Parliament of World Religions will take place in Melbourne, Australia, from December 4 to December 9, 2009. First held in Chicago in 1893, the Parliament of the World’s Religions brings together the world’s religious and spiritual communities, their leaders and their followers to a gathering where peace, diversity and sustainability are discussed and explored in the context of inter-religious understanding and cooperation.
    • On December 8, the Parliament will host an assembly of some of the most influential spiritual leaders of Hinduism. The list of participants includes H. H. Swami Avdheshananda Giri Ji Maharaj, Head of the Juna Peeth and recipient of the 2008 “Hindu of the Year” award; Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami, publisher of Hinduism Today, and Dada J. P. Vasvani, foremost spiritual leader of the Sindi community worldwide.
