  • The High Court on Monday observed that it had no power to direct the state government to allow educational institutions to subscribe to the Bible.

     

    While disposing a public interest litigation filed by Christian Legal Association seeking direction to the government to allow educational institutions to subscribe to the Bible for their libraries, a division bench headed by Chief Justice P D Dinakaran observed that it could not compel the state on the issue.

     

    However, the court also observed that the government could not restrain educational institutions from accepting the Bible as a gift from voluntary organisations.
